Monsuno Strike Sector Combat Set - Review

This is the second toy from Flair that Grown boy has been reviewing over the past week; a Monsuno Strike Sector Combat Set, plus some additional cores.

'Spin into Action, Transform into Battle with all-new Monsuno Cores and Transforming Action Figures. Collect hundreds of favourite characters from the Monsuno Animated TV Series for amazing transformation reveal and fast-action battle play.'
So what is Monsuno?
'65 MILLION YEARS AGO...

Meteors fell to the planet. These meteors carried LIFE - in the form of powerful, chaotic, uncontrollable genetic material.

This was MONSUNO; origins unknown, but catastrophically destructive to the planet's prehistoric population. As the dinosaurs perished, the uninvited Monsuno essence fell instinctively dormant - and over millions of years, dropped deeper and deeper below the planet's surface.. Until TODAY.

When a potent energy source is discovered in the K-layers of the planet, scientist Jeredy Suno believes he's struck a solution to the ever-mounting energy crisis. What he doesn't know - this green energy source is a ticking time bomb.
Can it be controlled?'
Grown boy is really into these types of toys; ones where you battle using a core and game cards. It's quite similar to the concept of Bakugan, which he  has been a fan of since junior school. He is really impressed with Monsuno too and even though it's aimed at boys aged 6 -10, my 4 year old Daughter also enjoys battling her big Brother - AND she's good at it! Go the girls! ;)

The Monsuno Strike Sector Combat Set comes with a Strike Sector base, 2 launch ramps and 2 rails plus a bonus Battle bag to store it in. It doesn't come with any cores, which with a RRP of £24.99 I think it a bit of a shame, as it means you will need to purchase at lease 2 cores separately in order to battle.

We were sent 2 single cores and a Wild core in addition to the playset. The singles cores also include a transforming figure and 3 collector game cards as well as the core itself. There are 32 cores to collect in four different styles. The Wild core comes with an exclusive collectors card, spins continually as it is motorized and lights up with an LED light. Be the first to spin your core and impart the Wild core for a powerful payoff!

Grown boy explains how the game works:
'To play you simply flick your core in a backspin motion and try to hit your opponents core, you can also use the game cards to heal or make your character more powerful. The first player to hit the Wild Core and make it open wins the power from the core. The winner is the player who takes their opponents health down to zero.'

Here is a sort video of a battle in play; I have recorded it in slow motion, as it's just so quick!!

The Monsuno Strike Sector Combat Set has an RRP of £24.99.

Disclosure: I was sent a playset and 3 cores for review purposes. Our opinions remain honest as always.
