Lunchbox ideas: Mu Cheddar Sticks and Patz!

With a picky eater in the house, making up lunch boxes can be quite a chore. The same things week in week out are boring and it doesn't help with the fussiness. I've been on the look out for some new ideas and thanks to MU I now have something else to add to my list of enjoyable, tasty and healthy food I can put in my childrens lunch bags, knowing that it's going to be eaten.

MU is the funky new cheddar brand family with its distinctive cow-splat packaging and new on the block are Mu Cheddar Sticks and Patz. These are made from 100% cheddar and contain no added ingredients. Each item contains the equivalent of one glass of milk, which is brilliant if your child won't drink milk!

The Sticks are individually wrapped so are the perfect treat to pop into kids’ lunch boxes. They are really tasty and flavourful; a smooth medium mature cheddar, I would say. The kids loved them and I did too. They are not string type cheese sticks, they are literally a stick of delicious cheese in a convenient form, wrapped for freshness until lunchtime.

There are 4 sticks in a pack and cost a reasonable £1.25. I love the interesting packaging; each stick features an aMUsing fact about cows and milk - that went down well with the kids too.

The Patz are mini slices of the same cheddar. These are so versatile! They are ideal for quick, tasty sandwiches, or you can use them to decorate pizzas, top a crumpet and pop under the grill for a delicious snack, or like I have done; make some mini kebabs!

Mini kebabs are SO simple to make; you could even get the kids to make their own. You can literally put anything on them - I've chosen quartered slices of MU Patz with cherry tomatoes, and mini sausages. The variations are endless really; you can use egg, avocado, cucumber, ham, chicken (or veggie alternatives), olives..... you name it. I can tell you on good authority that the Patz are totally delicious with tomato - the perfect combo!

The Cheddar Patz are £1.30 for 16 slices, which I also think is a very reasonable price. The Sticks and Patz join MU’s Mild Cheddar, Medium Cheddar, Mature Cheddar and Lighter Mature Cheddar. Also in the range are some handy packs of MU Sliced Cheddar and Grated Cheddar – which are perfect for sandwiches. Available exclusively from Tesco, each cheese comes in a fun “cow splat” resealable pack to keep them fresh.

Disclosure: I was sent some cheese samples for review purposes. My opinions are honest as always.
