My Daughter loves girlie toys. She loves make up, and she loves anything where she can make her own creations. So, when we were asked if we would like to review the Interplay - Wild Science - Lip Balm Laboratory she was thrilled.
Like all the other Wild Science kits we have had the pleasure to own, it combines learning about science with fun, and exciting creative play. More than just a lip balm kit, there are additional scientific experiments in the instruction booklet. The lip balms are also more than just cosmetics. You can add textures and shimmers and an SPF for use in sunny weather (I'm sure we'll see sunshine again soon!) You can then scientifically test the SPF factor using UV detector beads that are included in the kit. I find that fascinating myself!

As you can see, there is a lot included in this kit, so I think it would make an excellent present idea. I think it's one of the 'bigger' kit's we've had, so good value, content wise.
It is aimed at children aged 8 upwards which is about right. There is some heating using hot water required so it is not suitable for a younger child. Adult supervision and assistance is vital.
I did chuckle at Middle Miss wearing her vinyl protective gloves. With the intense concentration on her face, she looked like to was just about to operate on someone! She LOVED it, and was so proud of the cherry candy and strawberry flavoured lip balms she made plus a plain one, which, I believe contains the SPF. Little One watched with interest whilst this was all happening and happily volunteered to be the guinea pig... wearing FAR too much lip balm that she confirmed, 'smelt yummy'.
I think the compact is a much nicer idea than lots of little pots. It means Middle Miss can keep it on her dresser, or bag which makes her feel quite grown up, without being 'too' grown up!
We really enjoyed using this kit, and I would be happy in recommending it to other parents.

We were sent this kit to review, but our opinions remain honest, based purely on our own experience.
